My Baystate Story: Rosalie Santos Patient Care Technician, Baystate Noble Hospital

My name is Rosalie Santos, and I am a Patient Care Technician (PCT) at Baystate Noble Hospital. Every day for me can be different and the same all at the same time. First and foremost, it is important to me to make sure all the needs of my patients are met. I work very hard to make a connection with each of my patients and I spend the extra time with them to let them know that I am here for them and will try and help them any way I can.
Working during COVID-19 was challenging, wearing PPE, a mask, eyewear, however, COVID-19 did not change how I cared for my patients. I have had many memorable moments with patients and their families, and I have been fortunate to receive compliments and notes/letters from patients and family members sharing how I made a difference in their life or the lives of their loved ones. That to me, means everything. Knowing I have made a difference in their life is something I will always hold close. I get rewarded knowing I have been able to bring smiles and great care to my patients.
In healthcare we never know what we will encounter, and there are difficult days as well as rewarding days, but I try and make a positive impact every day, with every patient.
